Anyone ever notice that some times their chaeto just stops doing well and never really bounces back. I've had to replace mine a few times over the past 5 years or so. Maybe once a year.

One time my fuge bulb got old and my chaeto started looking like crap and never really seemed to recover. It shed like crazy, was all brown, and just didn't have a nice texture. I replaced the bulb and it never really seemed to recover. Just kept slowly dying off.

Then i got some new from a friend and boom the chaeto started grown like crazy again.

I had it happen before also. Same exact think. Chaeto started looking like crap, shedding, i keep seeing it caught in my koralias, doesn't grow. Then i start getting algae out breaks in the tank. Throw away the old chaeto and get new some where and boom, the new stuff starts growing like crazy.

Anyone else have any similar experiences or an explanation? I mean sometimes i don't even change anything, just get new chaeto.
